Love is Forever

What would you do if the mythical creature that you’ve always believed was real showed up at your window one evening?  Invite him in, of course!  In Jerry Ackerman’s young adult novel, a little girl contently draws dragons at a cluttered table. Although her dad has told her that dragons are imaginary, he has also said that the imagination is a wonderful thing allowing anything to be as real as a person wants.  Outside the window, a dragon that looks exactly like her drawn portrait peers at the scene. Through the Transzip, he has landed on earth at the home of ten year-old Lily and her parents.  His life is about to change forever.

This is a novel about friendships, family, devotion, and love. It is also about telling the truth while holding back words or thoughts that could be hurtful. It’s a book about discovery, believing in the impossible, and tapping into our source.  Most of all, the novel is entertaining, sweet, and a great read for all ages.

The author wrote this story as a love note to his daughter. Through his spirited words, it’s obvious that family, connection, love, respect, and caring are paramount in one’s life. Py, the dragon, represents the author, while Lily, the child in the book, embodies the true-life characteristics of his daughter, Sierra.

This is a heartfelt read for the entire family. I laughed, cried, and got goosebumps. Most of all, I am now searching the skies for dragons. They are real.
