Chef Christina Machamer started her culinary career at the age of sixteen working in restaurants. After winning season four of Hells Kitchen, Chef Christina was Sous Chef for Gordon Ramsey at the London West Hollywood Hotel. During that time they received their first coveted Michelin Star. It was her next job that would make her one of the most successful women in the country. Chef Christina split her time between being a Chef at one of LAâs top restaurants and studying wine through the Court of Master Sommeliers based in London. After passing the certified sommelier exam she moved to Napa Valley and is today one of the most successful female Sommeliers.
Deanne DeMarco asks Chef Christina about the early days of her career and gets her best advice for starting and succeeding in the male dominated profession of wine. Deanne, who has 20 successful years as a business coach, speech coach and keynote speaker said, âEach week I interview extraordinary and inspiring women who may not be household names but are business and entrepreneurial rising stars. For this show Iâm delighted to have one of the best-known female Chefs in America share time with me and my audience.â
DeMarco said, âChef Christina entered two male dominated professions that of being a Chef and a Sommelier. She is a true trail-blazer and has an inspiring story on how she made her dreams a reality.â
The other special guest is Tammie Souza who has been honored with 15 Emmy Award nominations and 5 Awards for Best Weathercast, Best Science Report and Live Reporting. Plus first place from the Associated Press for a report on Shipwreck Diving on a 125 year old Shipwreck. Tammie Souza is a meteorologist with Fox News-Chicago.
Tammieâs interest in weather started when she was very young. As a child her grandfather took her flying in a small plane and that led to questions about clouds, storms and wind. That curiosity led to a career as a meteorologist and a love for flying.
Tammie entered a manâs world when few women did. A lifetime of breaking personal and professional barriers was epitomized, by her being chosen as the first female chairman of the National AMS Board of Meteorology. She was also the first female Chief Meteorologist in Tampa/ St Petersburg, Fla.
DeMarco said, âI am very curious how she overcame the challenges of working in a male dominated field and what has given her the edge over her peers to be nominated so many times for an Emmy Award. Those lessons will be valuable for all of us.â
