First of its kind cigar event in Phoenix draws in a crowd from all over with 9 events in 3 days.
A large group of cigar aficionados traveled throughout the valley leaving a trail of smoke. What could be described as a bar hop, the kickoff began the first Friday in October at Fox’s Cigar Bar in Scottsdale where pass holders were greeted with a tote bag, good music, great company and a huge selection of cigars. Former NFL Player, Darryl Clack (Dallas Cowboys) made it out to support and described the event as being a great thing for the Valley.
The next stop that ended the night was at Puro Cigar Bar. It was like the flood gates opened. Cigar lovers made their way to meet Willie the Cuban Roller for a freshly rolled cigar while the DJ turned the volume up to set the perfect mood.
With two events already up in smoke, it was very necessary to start off Day-2 with a nice cup of coffee, a cigar and an empowering conversation at Trevor’s in Scottsdale. A panel led by founding member, Keake Williams took turns at the mic to discuss personal life experiences, Cigars 101, the stereotypes of cigars, being entrepreneurs and more.
Some cigar enthusiasts found themselves conflicted by a few events that were happening at the same time but found a sweet deal at the ‘Smoke Break’ which was held at Brick and Barley in Tempe where they were able to bring their own cigars and enjoy an appetizing meal.
To close out Day-2, everyone headed over to Maduro’s Fine Cigars East to experience more brands of cigars and dance the night away with a Live Jazz Band and Live DJ. Keake Williams (Wrapped N Smoke) shared ways on how to protect your hair from smoke. Men and women found this to be beneficial.
What’s a Sunday without a NFL Game? Well the Cigar Crew headed over to Castro’s Cigars Lounge in Phoenix to enjoy cigars and an NFL Watch Party. Once done there everyone headed over to Pour Decisions in Scottsdale where Former Phoenix Suns player Ced Ceballos spun on the 1’s & 2’s, but of course he had his cigar on deck.
The Cigar Connoisseurs ended up right where they started, at Fox’s Cigars to close out a very eventful weekend. Founding member, Bryant Thompson was very impressed by the turnout and stated that he’s already getting requests for next year. The bar has been set and the Phoenix Cigar Week is expected to get bigger and better.
With the growing community of Cigar Smokers, they are looking educate people about the lifestyle, build relationships and create unity.
