Every week, Express Yourself!™ will bring you a stimulating program based on a chapter from our award winning book Be the Star You Are!® for Teens.

“The human voice is the most beautiful instrument of all, but the most difficult to play.” Are you a talker? Do you know how to communicate effectively?

Alex PawlakosAsya Gonzalez, 2016JPGBrigitte Jia - Version 2

Veteran reporter of Health Rap, Alex Pawlakos, joins hosts Asya Gonzalez and Brigitte Jia about how important it is to communicate with your doctor. A doctor can correctly diagnose your symptoms, arrive at a conclusion and a course of treatment, but only if you TALK to him or her. In a world where actions speak louder than words, Artist Jenna Rose Simon proves that the healing act of art and the written word can speak volumes when seen through the eyes of those in need of healing. Jenna’s message is that even if you can’t change the world, you can help the life of one person.

Katie Lyons 2

As an athlete, Reporter of Lion Roar, Katie Lyons considers talking and communicating to be one of the most important components of sports. Communication between athletes and coaches is necessary for improvement, feedback, and strategizing. Talk Back!

Bio: JENNA Rose Simon
After struggling with an eating disorder for ten years, Jenna Rose Simon began to draw concepts that she felt people weren’t understanding in her therapy, starting with her first self-portrait. It was then that Jenna discovered, with the help of her therapist, that drawing would help her and potentially others. Jenna’s sketch depicting verbal abuse went viral and was shared more than 300K times on Facebook. Simon continues to impact others through her Instagram account @gentletouchofart where she shares many of her sketches, including concept art and celebrity pieces. jennarosesimon.com
