Asya Gonzalex hosts the program beginning with chapter, The Gift of Rejectionâ by Cynthia Brian from the book Be the Star You Are!® for Teens followed by a lively conversation with The New Yorker copy editor, Mary Norris.  Norris expertly guides readers through the most common and confusing grammatical issues in her book, Between You and Me, Confessions of a Comma Queen. She reveals her rejections throughout her career and why itâs important to keep on keeping on. An informative and fun interaction with two women who love words and repel rejection.
Bio Mary Norris
Mary Norris began her professional career as a foot checkerâdutifully checking patronsâ toes for athleteâs foot as they entered a Cleveland city poolâbefore working at a costume company and driving a milk truck. Humble beginnings for a woman who would come to spend more than three decades as a copy editor (or âprose goddessâ) at The New Yorker, where sheâs worked with such celebrated writers as Philip Roth, Pauline Kael, and George Saunders. Norrisâs love of language, and her wish to help âall of you who want to feel better about your grammar,â led her to write BETWEEN YOU & ME: Confessions of a Comma Queen. www.commaqueen.net
