Every week, Express Yourself!⢠will bring you a stimulating program based on a chapter from our award winning book Be the Star You Are!® for Teens.
No matter who you are or where you come from, you have the power to dream. Imagine the life you want to live.
Host Jennifer Lee jumpstarts our dreams with a rendition of âImagineâ followed with host Henna Hundal and Jennifer offering ways to do what you love and love what you do as they read the chapter, The Gift of Dreams from Cynthia Brianâs book, Be the Star You Are!® for Teens.
Why do we dream? HealthRap Reporter Alex Pawlakos sheds light on the science behind dreaming. Often the imagery in a dream may be connected to a real-life problem in a more visual way. In our REM dreams, we are re-processing emotional experiences that happen in our waking life. Â But, because of the reduced levels of stress chemicals, we are able to re-processing these experiences in a more stress-free environment. Ilana Harkavy, an LA-based recording artist/songwriter and entrepreneur with a passion for female empowerment debuts her first solo EP, Just, Girl, and we get to listen to her single, My Body. The issues she addresses range from body image to social acceptance. While her songs tackle sensitive subjects, her songs remain current and catchy!â
Reporter Brigitte Jia of Art Attack provides a perspective on the projection of dreams onto a canvas, sheet of newsprint, clay mold, and any other medium of art. The contortions of the figures in the paintings give off an air of abnormality, the feeling of distance usually brought by a dream. Dream big and the future will be yours.

About Ilana Harkavy
My name is Ilana Harkavy. I’m an LA-based singer-songwriter and I’m so excited to share my new music with you. Iâve just completed a five track EP (half an album) titled Just, Girl. This body of work sheds light on the struggles Iâve faced as a young woman and the mottos Iâve adopted to overcome them. Iâve put my heart and soul into this project. Itâs been an emotional, but rewarding journey, and I truly hope that you love the music as much as I do!
The Just, Girl. Project is a fiery musical movement that empowers girls to embrace their passions, be blatantly honest, and to take ownership of their individual struggles. Through the power of music, this project relates to and empowers girls to be the utmost honest version of themselves, take responsibility for who they are, and go after what they are most passionate about.
